Resolutions Checkpoint: June

Today is July 1, the first day of the new fiscal year at my job!  Time to check in on all of my new year's resolutions.

--June Focus--

My June focus was staying off of the computer when I got home in the evenings.  I'll give myself a + for this past month.  I read a lot more this month than in May, which was mostly thanks to finishing my TEFL/TESOL course on June 6, but also because I spent time reading in the evenings rather than on the compy.  I also haven't been home much to even give myself the opportunity of computering.  Last week I was only home in the evenings to shower and sleep; I was off playing ultimate or spending time with friends after work each day.

--Overall Progress--

So here we go, my current progress on all resolutions that made the cut last month:

  • (+) Read 32 books -- I've read 17 books of 32, which means I'm on track (according to Goodreads).  Books read in June include Tina Fey's Bossypants, Twenty-Something Travel's Stephanie Yoder's A Year Without Makeup, and Pamela Druckerman's Bringing Up Bébé.
  • (-) Five of the 32 will be in Spanish -- I have read 1 / 5 books in Spanish. (Hermanos monigotes II)
  • (+) Five of the 32 will be books that I own in my apartment -- I have read 8 / 5 books that I own in my apartment.  Now I'm hitting up the library again, and reading ebooks on my kindle.
  • (  ) Two of the 32 books will be in French -- I picked up Harry Potter in French the other week!  Although it's a junior edition, it still feels very ambitious, and there is no way I'll finish it before I need to return everything next week.  But that's a start!
  • (+) Take probiotics every day -- I'm still taking probiotics most days, but haven't been tracking it.
  • (+) Read JJ's info from health center; read the health book his Dr. recommended -- I've read pertinent information from the book The Road to Perfect Health, lent to me by JJ.

  • (-) Write in journal every day -- I wrote in my journal 5 / 30 days in June, and again, I really need to bump that up this month.  Since I only have a handful of pages left in my current journal, I'll dig out my unopened one from Paris and start writing in it.
  • (+) Only log in to facebook 1x/day maximum -- I think I did better in June.  This reminds me that I promised a post about facebook last month.  It's now started in my drafts, so expect that in July.
  • (+) Focus on gratitude -- I've been keeping up with my Thankful Thursdays and thank you cards.  Happify, the site I joined in June, has definitely helped to keep gratitude in focus. (Speaking of which, I still have two invitations to Happify. Comment with your email address if you want one!)

  • (+) Do something physical at least two days a week -- Still meeting (and often surpassing) this goal, thanks to my two frisbee games a week.
  • (-) Play the guitar once a week -- I played just last night!  I don't think it was every week in June, though, but some is better than none.
  • (+) Go to the French conversation table! -- I went two Mondays in June.  I'll be out-of-town (well, out of the country) for most of July, so I'll have to do something else in French instead (cough read cough).
  • (  ) Learn basic Korean -- I picked up some books and audio CDs from the library the other week.  I've also been watching some youtube videos about the alphabet - that's what I want to master first.
  • (+) Visit Hannah in Canada -- This is happening in a week and a half!!

--July Focus--

In July I'm going to focus on the present.  I'm visiting dear friends that I haven't seen since last September, and I don't know when we'll see each other next in the future (the four of us all currently live in - and are from - different countries).  So I want to enjoy my time with them, thinking of nothing else while we're together.

How is everyone else doing on their new year's resolutions?
